XGIMI HORIZON 20 Max vs SEEMILE B-Series for a Golf Simulator
This is primarily a room-geometry comparison. HORIZON 20 Max gives you native 4K, optical zoom and lens shift but uses a 1.2–1.5:1 standard throw. The SEEMILE short-throw family gives up resolution and optical flexibility for a roughly 0.5:1 throw that can fit much closer to the impact screen.
Quick checks
- HORIZON 20 Max: 1.2–1.5:1 throw, 4K, 5700 ISO lumens.
- SEEMILE B-Series short throw: ~0.5:1 throw, 3200–4800 manufacturer-listed lumens, WXGA/1080p variants.
- Do not directly compare ISO lumens with an unlabeled manufacturer lumen figure as if they use the same test method.
- Choose the projector position before choosing the resolution tier.
A 10-foot-wide image exposes the geometry difference
Using the published throw ratios, HORIZON 20 Max needs roughly 12–15 feet of throw for a 10-foot-wide image, while a ~0.5:1 SEEMILE configuration needs roughly five feet. Those are optical planning estimates, not complete mount coordinates; exact lens position, screen aspect ratio and variant still need to be checked.
Short throw can be more valuable than 4K in a compact bay
In a golf simulator, a projector that creates golfer shadows or enters the swing envelope is unusable regardless of resolution. If the only safe ceiling position is several feet from the screen, the SEEMILE architecture has the structural advantage. If the room can mount behind/above the golfer without shadow problems, the XGIMI can use its 4K image advantage.
Brightness numbers are not apples-to-apples
XGIMI labels HORIZON 20 Max at 5700 ISO lumens. NothingProjector lists SEEMILE variants at 3200–4800 lumens without the same ISO label on the current product page. Measurement standards matter, so do not calculate a simple percentage brightness advantage from those headline numbers.
XGIMI has much more optical placement flexibility
HORIZON 20 Max publishes optical zoom plus extensive vertical/horizontal lens shift. The SEEMILE short-throw page lists 1.0 zoom and manual focus. If both throw positions fit, the XGIMI gives the installer more freedom to align the image without digital keystone.
SEEMILE is the more purpose-shaped golf-room geometry
NothingProjector markets the B-Series as a business/short-throw laser projector rather than a golf-specific projector, but the ~0.5:1 lens is inherently useful in simulator rooms because it can keep the projector closer to the screen and ahead of the hitting area. The merchant’s cinema screens should not be confused with rated golf impact screens.
Decision rule
Choose HORIZON 20 Max when you have the throw distance and value 4K, lens shift and optical zoom. Choose the SEEMILE short-throw family when room depth and shadow avoidance are the dominant constraints and 1080p-class output is acceptable. Calculate your exact screen width and mount location before buying either.
How we use specifications
GolfSimulatorVerdicts treats room size, mounting height and placement as compatibility constraints rather than quality scores. Current manufacturer documentation controls exact installation.
